EDMONTON – The snow has fallen and now it’s time to embrace winter.

“Edmonton gets a bit of a bad rap that’s undeserved. As our mayor likes to say, we’ve been underestimated for far too long and we need to start boasting about all the great things we have here,” said Susan Holdsworth, Winter City Coordinator with the City of Edmonton.

The City held its ‘Premier to Winter’ event Thursday night, which is all about embracing everything that winter has to offer in Edmonton.

“We’re highlighting things that you can look forward to this winter because there’s a lot going on,” Holdsworth said. “Winter festival season gets going quite soon.”

The City premiered a new short film about winter in Edmonton and there was a short reading from 40 below – Edmonton’s winter anthology.

For more information on the contest and to enter, visit Winter City Edmonton’s Facebook page.

Some of the festivals coming up in the next few weeks include All is Bright on 124, the Festival of Light at the Valley Zoo, and Deep Freeze: a Byzantine Winter Festival, to name a few.
