Small plane makes emergency landing in Salmon Arm field

A small plane made an emergency landing in a  farmer’s field near Salmon Arm on Friday morning, though the damage was said to be minimal.

According to police, the ultralight aircraft lost engine power around 8:30 a.m., and landed near a golf course beside the Trans-Canada Highway.

“The pilot and sole occupant of the plane suffered minor injuries as the plane came to a sudden stop in the soft ground and damaged one fence in the area,” said Salmon Arm RCMP.

“The pilot was seen by emergency crews at the scene and did not go to the hospital.”

Police said Transport Canada has been advised of the incident.
