Two people have been found dead at an eastern Ontario home in a suspected double homicide tied to a later incident in Quebec, police say.
Ontario Provincial Police said in a news release that on Wednesday at around 9:30 p.m., the Sûreté du Québec, which had been investigating a “serious assault,” advised of a possible crime scene in Ontario.
OPP officers went to a home in Chute-à-Blondeau, where two people were found dead.
“While the investigation is in its early stages, the person arrested for the incident in Les Cèdres, Quebec is believed to be connected to the deaths in East Hawkesbury,” the OPP said.
Police said they’re not releasing the identities of the deceased individuals as they need to identify family members.
Further information about the homicides wasn’t immediately released.
Officers said there is no risk to public safety and added that there will be a heavy police presence in the Chute-à-Blondeau area.
Meanwhile, the Sûreté du Québec provided more information on the incident that saw the person arrested in Quebec.

Quebec police said they received a call at 8:30 p.m. reporting an abandoned vehicle on Highway 30, near a toll booth in the municipality of Les Cèdres.
Police said witnesses reported a person acting “suspiciously” who also allegedly climbed into the back of a truck at the toll booth.
The driver of the truck had also been assaulted, police said.
Officers went to the scene and tasered the suspect — a man in his 20s — who was then arrested for assault. He was taken to hospital for treatment, as was the truck driver who suffered non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Quebec police added that prior to the assault, the suspect may have been involved in a hit-and-run involving another truck.
Based on information provided by the suspect, Quebec police officers then contacted the OPP and officers responded to the home in Chute-à-Blondeau, where the two people were found dead.
The OPP and Sûreté du Québec are working together on a joint investigation into the incident.
