Gunshot fired into home in NE Calgary

It was a terrifying wake up call for a family in Temple Wednesday morning.

They called police around 3 a.m., believing a rock had been thrown through a window in their home in the 100 block of Templevale Rd. N.E.

When officers arrived, they discovered it was actually a bullet hole in the window.

Two people were home at the time, a grandmother and her 16-year-old grandson. Neither of them was injured.

Investigators believe the home was targeted, but aren’t sure why at this point.

“When we responded there were only two occupants in the home,” says Detective Paul Wagman. “We interviewed them and that’s what led us to determine it was a targeted offence.”

Police say the shot was likely fired from a park area beside the home.

A neighbor who doesn’t want to be identified says he isn’t surprised by the shooting.

“I’ve lived here for 36 years. I tell you, when I moved here it was a beautiful area of the city but now it has grow-ops, shootings, home invasions – it’s getting unreal.”

Other neighbours say they don’t know the family well but that there have been no problems at the home, until now.
