Durant named CFL player of the week

TORONTO – Saskatchewan Roughriders quarterback Darian Durant was named CFL offensive player of the week Tuesday after guiding his team to a West Division semifinal victory over B.C.

Durant completed 19 of 23 passes for 270 yards and two touchdowns in the 29-25 win last weekend. He also picked up 97 rushing yards on six carries.

Teammate Chris Milo picked up the special-teams honour after connecting on five of six field-goal attempts and adding a pair of converts.

Hamilton Tiger-Cats linebacker Simoni Lawrence was named defensive player of the week and Lions running back Andrew Harris earned the top Canadian honour.

Lawrence had a game-high seven tackles to help Hamilton advance to the East final with a 19-16 overtime win over the Montreal Alouettes.

Harris, from Winnipeg, ran for 93 yards on 10 carries in the Lions’ loss. He added two receptions for 21 yards.
