Several days after two police officers were shot and killed while responding to a domestic violence call in Alberta’s capital, the Edmonton Police Service announced details for a regimental funeral and celebration of their lives.
Constables Travis Jordan, 35, and Brett Ryan, 30, were fatally shot by a 16-year-old male when they responded to a call at an apartment building in Edmonton’s Inglewood neighbourhood on Thursday.

The suspect is also dead. Police said they believe he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The killings have shocked and saddened people across the city and country.
The funerals for Jordan and Ryan will take place at the Rogers Place hockey arena in downtown Edmonton on Monday, March 27 at 1 p.m., EPS announced in a news release on Monday.
Access to Rogers Place for the funeral will be limited to family, special guests, EPS members and supporters from within law enforcement, emergency services and military communities, EPS said. The public is invited to pay their respects along the procession route and attend a live stream in the Ice District Plaza.
No backpacks, briefcases or other large items will be permitted. Road closures will be in effect and parking in the area is limited. The city may make additional viewing areas available.

Coverage will begin during Global News at Noon, when the officer’s bodies will be transported to Rogers Place. Radio coverage can also be heard on 630 CHED, beginning at 1 p.m.
The funeral procession will begin at approximately 11:45 a.m. at the Alberta legislature and will make its way to Rogers Place. There will be road closures.

On Tuesday, Ryan and Jordan’s bodies were moved from the medical examiner’s office to a funeral home in south Edmonton.
Hundreds of police officers, first responders and citizens lined the streets of Alberta’s capital on Tuesday to pay tribute to two slain constables as their bodies were moved.
The five-kilometre procession route had street lights adorned with blue ribbons to honour the lives of the officers.
On Saturday, Premier Danielle Smith announced that the regimental funeral would be held on March 26.
However, she later tweeted that the information she announced had yet to be confirmed and that Edmontonians should wait for an official announcement from police.
At an unrelated news conference on Monday, Smith was asked about her weekend announcement that she later walked back.
“I was arranging my schedule. I made a mistake in the date,” she said, adding that everyone is “heartbroken to see two fallen officers in the line of duty.
“And I know that that many people are going to want to want to honour the families together.”
