Boy dies after being pinned by trailer door in Red Deer

A 12-year-old boy is dead after becoming pinned under a trailer door in a Red Deer industrial park.

RCMP describe the covered utility trailer as the type of unit ATVs or dirt bikes are transported in, with a heavy door that comes down on hinges and doubles as a ramp.

“The family was there, the kids were playing and the boy wandered off and for some reason opened the trailer door and it fell on him,” said Cpl. Kathe Deheer, adding the boy’s parents and siblings witnessed the incident.
