Sooke RCMP are on the lookout for a man who broke into a home and groped a woman who was sleeping beside her husband.

Police say in the early morning hours of November 1 a man broke into the lower level of a town home in the 1900-block of Maple Avenue South. He was able to gain access through an insecure sliding door and then went upstairs where the woman was sleeping.

Police say when she realized what was happening she yelled and that woke her husband, who chased the suspect outside but could not catch him.

A canine unit from Saanich Police was brought in to help, but they did not find the man.

“The Sooke RCMP are actively following up on all available information in relation to this incident,” says Staff Sergeant Stephen Wright, Sooke RCMP. “At this time we believe this is an isolated incident but we are asking for the public’s assistance to help identify the person responsible.”
