One person dies in Highway 63 collision

Edmonton – One person is dead following a collision on Highway 63 Tuesday evening.

The crashed happened 12 kilometers north of the Highway 55 junction where a pick-up truck collided with a semi tractor trailer.

The driver and the only person inside of the pick-up was pronounced dead on scene.

The driver of the semi was not injured.

RCMP say the eastbound pickup truck turned on to Highway 63 when it struck the southbound semi trailer.

RCMP are working to identify the victim and notify family members.

Traffic was being diverted around the collision Tuesday evening and early Wednesday morning as crews worked to remove the semi and pick-up truck.

The area was expected to be clear by around 2 a.m. Wednesday.
