TORONTO — Canadian singer-songwriters Chantal Kreviazuk and Raine Maida will be the recipients of the 2014 Allan Waters Humanitarian Award.
According to an announcement Tuesday, the married couple is being honoured for a “devotion to philanthropy and humanitarian causes at home and abroad.”
The award, handed out annually during Juno weekend, recognizes Canadian artists who have made positive contributions to society. Previous recipients include Sarah McLachlan, Neil Young and Tom Cochrane.

Kreviazuk and Maida will be presented with the award on March 29 in Winnipeg — Kreviazuk’s hometown.
The pair has been married since 1999 and have three sons.
Kreviazuk has won two Junos and Maida’s former band Our Lady Peace has four. Both musicians have written songs for a number of artists, including Avril Lavigne, Kelly Clarkson and Josh Groban.
Kreviazuk, 39, and Maida, 43, are actively involved in War Child Canada and have supported the Canadian Mental Health Association, Polar Bears International, The Opportunity Fund and Apathy is Boring.
