CALGARY – Drivers along two popular roadways will soon see new electronic signs popping up to help them time their commutes.
The City of Calgary says five signs are expected to be placed along Glenmore Trail and Crowchild Trail to help commuters more accurately estimate their driving time to important intersections.
The signs will be modeled after billboards already up and operating along Deerfoot Trail, which began as a pilot project in 2010 but are now a permanent fixture.
“People are going to be able to make real-time travel decisions when they’re on the road,” says Julie Yepishina-Geller with The City of Calgary. “We also find they are successful in terms of keeping eyes on the road, because the information people are sometimes looking for on their phone is right there in front of them.”
