Hiring – U.S. home improvement giant Lowe’s wants to hire 450 people for three new local stores, the first of which opens at CrossIron Mills this fall.

Mark Lang, manager of the Sunridge store, said about half the jobs will be full-time.

Positions include department managers, cashiers and receiving.

Calgary is the first western expansion for Lowe’s, which opened stores in Ontario two years ago.

The Sunridge location and a third in McKenzie Towne are scheduled to open later this year or early 2011.

The Lowe’s job fair is being hosted at the Coast Plaza Hotel on Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. until noon.
