OPP locate ‘armed and dangerous’ suspect on Henvey Inlet First Nation

Ontario Provincial Police have ended a shelter-in-place order in Henvey Inlet First Nation after finding the man who was considered armed and dangerous.

Police were investigating an occurrence involving Michael Ashawasega, 27, who police believed to be armed and dangerous, on the Henvey Inlet First Nation, approximately 85 km north of Parry Sound.

OPP say the suspect was taken into custody and is facing several criminal charges, including firearm charges. ^js

On Sunday at around 5 p.m., members from the West Parry Sound detachment of the OPP responded to a disturbance on the Henvey Inlet First Nation.

Police say a person fled the scene.

Additional resources were called in to help.
