TORONTO – A missing 72-year-old woman was found dead beside the west Don River Wednesday.
Edith Gus Peltinovich was last seen at 1 p.m. on Monday just after she went for a walk from her daughter’s home off of Finch Avenue West between Dufferin Street and Bathurst Street.

Police stepped up their search efforts for the missing elderly woman on Wednesday with six mounted units, a marine unit and officers on bicycles.
She was found Wednesday afternoon in ankle deep water on the banks of the Don River just outside of the search radius police had set up.
Constable Wendy Drummond said the elderly woman might have fallen into the river.
A post-mortem examination is scheduled for Wednesday.
Edith was visiting her family from Uruguay and had been in Toronto since the beginning of October.
She suffered from mental health issues and is not familiar with Toronto or public transit.
