1 man dead from gunshot wound following weapons complaint in northwest Edmonton

Edmonton police are investigating after a man was found dead of a gunshot wound in northwest Edmonton on Tuesday, Dec. 6, according to a news release.

EPS officers were called to a weapons complaint at a home in the area of 117 Avenue and 87 Street.

When police got there at around 6:20 p.m., they found a dead man believed to be in his 30s inside the home.

Investigators have deemed the death in the Parkdale neighbourhood to be suspicious.

An autopsy was done on Dec. 12 and the man was identified as Tyler Atkinson, 34.

In an update on Dec. 13, Edmonton police said the cause of death was a gunshot wound but the manner of death was not being released yet for investigative reasons.

Police are looking for assistance from those who may have surveillance or dashcam footage from motorists or taxi drivers who were driving through this area early Tuesday evening.
