With Halloween just a few days away, several families with sick children, received a chance to participate in one of the holiday’s most popular activities, carving a pumpkin.

Three members of the Vancouver Whitecaps, Jordan Harvey, Greg Klazura and Joe Cannon, stopped by to help.

It was all part of the Canadian Cancer Society’s 10 families, 10 pumpkins event. The children, who have, or have had cancer, received some help from the three pro-athletes, and were serenaded by former American Idol contestant Kim Caldwell.

“We’re living in the Easter Seals House, it’s a great place, but it’s a small little room with four of us in there, and for her to get out and be with kids her own age, be with other people that give their time to the kids, it means the world, it’s just everything,” says Dax Corrigall, whose child is currently battling cancer. “It’s such a busy life, and we’ve left all our family behind, our dogs are back in Campbell River, everything’s back there. We’re just here with a couple of suitcases, and we’ve been here for a couple of months, so anything we can do to keep the kids busy, it’s great.”
