First ever Saskatchewan wearable art gala promises unique displays

SASKATOON – The Saskatchewan wearable art gala is not quite a fashion show in the traditional sense but a weirdly wonderful display of artistic expression.

Saskatoon artist and designer Melissa Squire is showcasing her piece in the event which also serves as a competition for artists involved.

“I was told by a few friends about it and it sounded interesting to me,” said Squire.

“Normally my clothing line is pretty out there anyway so it’s nice to be able to go beyond what I normally do.”

Artists from across the province will be taking part in the event, the first of it’s kind in Saskatchewan.

The show takes place on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 8 p.m. at the Mercedes-Benz showroom.
