WestJet says system-wide outage fixed, disruptions anticipated as recovery in process

Hundreds of WestJet customers were still trying to get to their destinations on Monday after a Canada-wide system outage over the weekend. Gaby Rios reports. – Nov 7, 2022

WestJet has now said the system-wide issues that were causing outages have now been resolved.

The airline company made the announcement on Twitter around 6 a.m. Sunday.

“All systems are now online and stable. We unfortunately anticipate further disruptions as we work to recover from the system-wide outage,” WestJet officials said.

“We are sincerely sorry for the significant inconvenience.”

WestJet reported a “system-wide outage” that was impacting operations, Saturday.

Social media posts suggested many WestJet customers were waiting hours to board flights, with some missing connecting flights.

B.C. resident Carmen Eberle said her son waited to board a flight in Vancouver since for more than four hours.

“There have been no updates. There is no information coming out and people are getting frustrated,” said Eberle.

“It’s been a long wait and people are left in the dark.”
