The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team says a 38-year-old man died in a shooting at the University of British Columbia Golf Club Monday morning.
Sgt. Timothy Pierotti of IHIT said at approximately 9:49 a.m. the University RCMP detachment responded to reports of shots fired at the golf club.
They found a man suffering from gunshot wounds and, despite life-saving efforts, the man died at the scene.
Anyone who was in the area between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. Monday morning is asked to contact homicide investigators.
Pierotti said the victim has been identified but his next-of-kin has not been notified.

He said there were witnesses to the shooting but luckily no one else was injured.
A burning vehicle was located nearby in Vancouver in an alley at West 20th Avenue and Crown Street shortly after the shooting but Pierotti said it is unclear if it or a burning vehicle located in Richmond are connected to the shooting.
The vehicle in Richmond was located at Highway 91 and Westminster Highway.
He said police are working on gathering information about the background of the victim.
