EDMONTON – Global News has put together a video documenting the highlights from the 2013 Edmonton election in less than three minutes.
Don Iveson was elected mayor on Oct. 21, winning 62 per cent of the vote.

“There is a generally accepted way to run political campaigns. You take stock of your competitors, and you find ways to discredit their character and you impugn their records. You build yourself up on their misfortune,” said Iveson during his acceptance speech.

“I want to thank the more than 200,000 Edmontonians, voters, who participated today, for inspiring us, and for allowing us to inspire you,” he added.

“Thank you first to my colleagues Karen Leibovici and Kerry Diotte for their public service,” said Iveson.
Leibovici won 19 per cent of the vote, while Diotte took 16 per cent.
Voter turnout in Edmonton was 34.5 per cent. In the 2010 civic election, it was 33 per cent.
