Greg Pasychny re-elected mayor of Edson

EDMONTON – Incumbent Greg Pasychny was re-elected mayor of Edson Monday night. This will be Pasychny’s third term in the mayor’s chair.

Pasychny won the mayoral race with 85 per cent of the vote.

While he was the front-runner in the race, he wasn’t without competition.

Robert Wilkinson, who became a YouTube sensation for enthusiastically singing the song “Bohemian Rhapsody” in the back seat of a police car, was also in the running to be Edson’s mayor.

The RCMP video of Wilkinson singing the Queen rock anthem went viral, amassing more than 10 million hits.

But, it wasn’t enough to get him elected. Wilkinson was Pasychny’s only opponent and received 15 per cent of the vote.
