Crews battle wildfire near Halifax

The RCMP is reporting that emergency crews are battling a wildfire near the 1000 block of West Porters Lake Road that has been burning out of control.

The RCMP is assisting HRM fire services, and are evacuating the area. Fire services had reportedly lost control of the fire, however the most recent reports are that crews are now making steady progress.

At least 12 homes have been evacuated, and parts of West Porters Lake Road and connecting roads have been blocked off.

Fire crews say it is too early to tell how severe the fire could become, as winds are complicating efforts to extinguish the blaze.
