Grand Forks voters have elected Everett Baker as their new mayor in the 2022 B.C. municipal election, Global News projects.
Baker, who was elected to council in a 2020 byelection, replaces former mayor Brian Taylor who did not run again.
Incumbent councillors Zak Eburne-Stoodley, Neil Krog and Christine Thompson were also re-elected. They will be joined by newcomers Rod Zielinski, Mark David and Deborah Lafleur.
The City of Grand Forks made headlines this year when a donkey named Lobo submitted his candidacy as mayor. According to owner and campaign manager Lorraine O’Connor, Lobo is a “good judge of character” and a true public servant, who was caught on camera shovelling her driveway last winter.
