Man, woman charged after assault reported at Toronto Blue Jays game: police

A man and woman have been charged in connection with an assault reported at a Blue Jays game on Friday, police say.

Toronto police said on August 26 at around 9:15 p.m., two groups of people got into a “verbal argument” at the Rogers Centre.

Officers said the argument “turned physical,” and a 31-year-old woman was allegedly assaulted by an unknown man and woman.

According to police, the woman received medial attention and was taken to a hospital.

Police said on Monday, both the man and woman surrendered to police.

Officers said 30-year-old David Freeman from Toronto was charged with assault and aggravated assault.

He appeared in court on Monday morning.

Twenty-five-year-old Saffira Andrews from Toronto was charged with assault, police said.

She is scheduled to appear in court in October.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.

The Jays played the Los Angeles Angels the night of the incident. They lost 12-0.
