Two-car crash in Toronto’s north end leaves 57-year-old driver dead

Toronto police say they are investigating after a fatal head-on crash killed a 57-year-old man in the city’s north end early Friday.

Police said the crash between a 2019 blue Nissan Murano driven by a woman and a 2010 grey Toyota Caraolla driven by a man happened just after 4 a.m. on Gerry Fitzgerald Drive in the area of Dufferin Street and Steeles Avenue.

A 31-year-old woman and a 57-year-old man were taken to hospital via paramedics, police said.

Paramedics said the male driver was taken to a trauma centre in critical condition and the female driver was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

The man was later pronounced dead at the hospital, police said.

The area was closed for the investigation.
