Live Medicine Hat election results – 2013

Former councillor Ted Clugston is Medicine Hat’s new mayor.

Clugston won decisively, with just over 50 per cent of the vote. Incumbent mayor Norm Boucher came in a distant third, with only 7 per cent.

Clugston has been a city alderman for two terms and works as a financial planner.

Defeated former mayor Boucher had been Mayor since 2007. A former police officer, he has served as Chief of Police in Medicine Hat and Superintendent with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

Robert Dumanowski is returning for a fifth term as Alderman after chairing the Audit, Corporate Services, and Development & Infrastructure committees last session. He is also the principal of St. Francis Xavier School.

Also returning is Les Pearson, who was first elected in 2010.

Medicine Hat’s new aldermen are: Brian Varga, Julie Christine Friesen, Jamie McIntosh, Jim Turner and Celina Symmonds.

Although he ran in this year’s election, veteran alderman Graham Kelly was not elected to serve an 11th term. He has sat on council for 30 years since 1977, but no longer.
