Borrowman was first elected as mayor on June 19, 2012, after serving as councillor from 2004-2007 and 2010-2012. As mayor, he sat on the boards of the Biosphere Institute and Canmore Business and Tourism. A longtime member of Canmore’s business community, he has owned and operated the Of Cabbages and Kings pottery studio since 1991. His eldest daughter, Katie Borrowman, now runs the studio.

Canmore residents also elected six councillors.

Sean Krausert and Vi Sandford both return to council after originally winning seats in a June 2012 byelection.

Incumbent councillor Joanna McCallum also kept her seat on Monday. She was first elected to council in 2010 and served on the Bow Valley Regional Housing, Property Tax Task Force and Budget Committees, among others.

New to council are Esme Comfort, Rob Seeley, and Ed Russell.
