Police hunt for suspect in deadly Chaparral stabbing

CALGARY – The hunt continues for a man accused of killing his estranged wife in Chaparral on Wednesday morning.

Police were called to the 100 block of Chaparral Valley Grove S.E. around 6:30 a.m. for reports of a violent incident.

When they arrived, officers found two women outside of a home suffering from stab wounds. One died at the scene, while the other was rushed to hospital with serious, potentially life-threatening injuries.

The woman who died has since been identified as 55-year-old Carmel Leah Christians of Calgary, who was on her way to work when she was attacked.

It’s believed her friend got caught in the middle of the altercation.

Police are now searching for her husband, who she’d recently separated from.
