Fire crews were called to two separate fires in the southwest community of Braeside on Sunday.

The first fire broke out around 4:40 a.m. Saturday morning, in the 700 block of Brookpark Drive Southwest.

Investigators say the fire started outside the building and climbed the wall into the attic.  They say it’s possible the blaze may have started in a pile of leaves outside the house.

The fire department is reminding Calgarians to be very careful around leaves and dry grass.

“We have just come off a level three fire ban and we have had dry conditions,” explains Battalion Chief Ernie Molineaux. “There are lots of leaves, dry grass. It’s that time of year when something gets going, it can really get away.”

The second fire started about a block away on Brookpark Boulevard Southwest.
