Property manager fined in Fort McMurray condo fire

EDMONTON- The property manager of a Fort McMurray condominium building has been fined in connection with a fire at the building early last year.

The north wing of the Parsons Landing condo complex went up in flames on February 5, 2012.

Shelter Canadian Properties Limited was in control of the building at the time of the blaze.

An investigation, conducted by the Regional Emergency Services of the Municipality of Wood Buffalo, revealed portions of the alarm system, such as horns and strobes, were manually turned off and disconnected at the time of the fire.

On Wednesday, Shelter was given a $15,000 fine, which is the maximum penalty, for failure to maintain the fire alarm system in an operable condition.
