Town of Grenfell passes anti-bullying law

GRENFELL – The small Saskatchewan town of Grenfell has passed an anti-bullying bylaw, a sign that concern about bullying isn’t just a big-city phenomenon.

The town council recently passed the bylaw after receiving a request from a father who said his child was being bullied.

Under the bylaw, bullies can be fined anywhere from 250 to one thousand dollars.

There are also penalties for those who encourage bullies, and people who don’t pay are subject to a maximum jail term of six months.
