CALGARY – Willow Park School will be closed for the rest of the week after an early morning fire.

Fire crews were called to the school, located in the 300 block of Willow Park Drive, around 4 a.m. on Wednesday.

When they arrived, firefighters found heavy smoke throughout the main floor of the two-store building, and a fire burning inside a northeast classroom.

Crews were able to keep the fire contained to the room where it was discovered, but the classroom has suffered severe damage.

All of the windows on the east side of the school were found broken, potentially by rocks, which were discovered inside the school on the floor.

Investigators say there is a possibility the fire was deliberately set, and the police arson unit is investigating.
