KELOWNA — A Saskatchewan man has admitted his guilt to a serious charge involving a car surfing stunt that killed a Kelowna man who was one of his best friends.
In June 2011, Jody Rud and some friends were celebrating Rud’s 25th birthday weekend with a camp-out in the woods west of Kelowna.
Rud was standing on the roof of a car travelling down the Bear Creek Forest Service Road when the driver lost control.
The car tumbled 17 metres down a steep embankment and Rud was killed.
The driver of the car, Christopher Gerald Bezaire, has now pleaded guilty to criminal negligence causing death.
Bezaire will be sentenced at a later date.
Police say neither alcohol or drugs were involved in the fatal car surfing incident.
