Global Television welcomed Warren Dean as their new Weather Anchor in February of 2006.
Born and raised in Saskatchewan, Warren is very happy to be back in his adopted home of Saskatoon and is excited to be working with the community. During his 10 years in broadcasting Warren has had many interesting broadcasting jobs both in Saskatchewan and Alberta. However, Saskatchewan was always his favorite place to be and Global Saskatoon gave him the opportunity to make this city his home.
“I missed the people here. They’re the best, so helpful, friendly and community minded. After being away, it’s good to be back surrounded by the things that I grew up around”
Learning the wild world of weather has been a fun and exciting challenge for Warren. “Of course the weather is always changing, always up to something. I find that interesting and it makes everyday different from the next. Also, being from here, I realize that the weather has a huge effect on the lives of the people in Saskatchewan. I feel good about giving them information that they can use.”
Born in Meadow Lake and raised in the small town of Glaslyn, Warren grew up playing every sport he could. “Unlike most Canadians I sucked at hockey so baseball and volleyball became my favorites.” Still very involved in sports, Warren can be found either on a diamond or court trying to keep his skills sharp and his competitive fires burning. Coaching has also become a big part of his life, passing on his knowledge and appreciation for sports to kids is something he greatly enjoys.
Nieces, Kyra and Kelsey along with nephew, Grayson have a very special place in Warren’s heart. This makes helping kids something that comes naturally to Warren. Working with the Children’s Hospital and Health Foundation is something he is especially looking forward to. “Whether it’s helping out with an event, buying a lottery ticket or volunteering, if it’s for kids, I’m there”.
In his off time Warren likes to watch his favorite teams, the Oilers, Colts and Red Sox. Spending quality time with his family and friends is also a must. If you can’t find Warren, look for him in the gym or out running!
Catch Warren Dean with SkyTracker Weather, weeknights on the Evening News at 6.00 and on News Final at 11.00.
