Video: High school football player’s impressive 50-yard touchdown run goes viral

TORONTO – A video of a Toronto high school football player’s 50-yard touchdown run has gone viral.

Jaeden Washington, a running back on the junior team (Grade 9 and 10 students) at St. Michael’s College in Toronto posted a highlight reel run on YouTube on October 4. Since then, it’s garnered over 500,000 views.

The run was from St. Michael’s 53-2 trouncing of St. Andrew’s during a game on September 21. Washington breaks at least 3 tackles – including an impressive stiff-arm – on his way to the long running touchdown.

The video has also caught the attention of several media outlets in the football-crazed United States who have nothing but praise for the young athlete.

The Big Lead, a division of USA Today, described Washington as the “monstrous high school football player in this video running over little Canadians who did not learn to wrap up.”

Gawker.com described the video thusly: “This is what happens when a defense made up entirely of kids who can’t tackle try to take on a running back who has a little Bo Jackson in him.”

Yahoo.com described Washington as “a two-sport athlete, starring in both football and rugby, and he’s completely unstoppable in both.”
