EDMONTON- About 40 search and rescue organizations from across Alberta took part in a training exercise in Strathcona County Saturday.
RCMP, the Edmonton Police Service and Parks Canada were among the organizations taking part in the exercise, which gives crews a chance to prepare for future deployments. Search and rescue dogs, all-terrain vehicles, and aircraft were used in the training.

“We doing a mock search to practice skills and kind of assess how we work as a team,” said Jason Bezaire with Edmonton Regional Search and Rescue.
Bezaire says this type of training is an essential part of the job.
“This is an excellent learning experience. It’s a great opportunity to do a rural-world activity. It’s a live search, we have about 30 different casualties stationed throughout the park and we’re using both air and ground search to find them.”
About 110 people took part in the large-scale search and rescue training exercise. This type of training is done about once a year.
