WINNIPEG — The Winnipeg Jets haven’t had any success in home openers since their return to the NHL, losing to both the Montreal Canadiens and Ottawa Senators is their two previous season debuts at the MTS Centre.
They’ll look to delight their raucous fans Friday night as they face the Los Angeles Kings, who won their season opener 3-2 in a shootout against the Minnesota Wild Thursday night.

Jeff Carter scored both the tying goal in the third period and the shootout clincher.
The Jets have only played the Kings once since their return to the NHL, delivering a 1-0 overtime victory in the 2011-12 season. This season the two teams will meet three times now that the Jets are part of the Western Conference.
The Jets opened their season Tuesday, defeating the Edmonton Oilers 5-4 with third-period goals from impressive rookie defencemen Jacob Trouba and Michael Frolik. Acquired in a trade from the Stanley Cup-champion Blackhawks, Frolik netted the winning goal, his second of the game.
The game winner was set up by Eric Tangradi, who started the night on the fourth line and has earned a promotion to the third line with Frolik and centre Olli Jokinen for Friday’s game.
