Last year’s wicked weather could take a toll on this year’s snow removal budget in Regina.
The city says we’re already $900, 000 over budget for snow removal.
It’s due to much more snow than anticipated earlier in 2013.
Mayor Michael Fougere says that money will be made up from a maintenance reserve fund, but ultimately this could mean a change in taxes.
“We have about $3 million of reserve tat will be used up for the rest of this year, but we’ll also look at our budget for 2014 and see what we can do as well,” he told Global News. “But we also have to replenish the reserve, so maybe a change in the mill rate.”
Staff will address the snow removal budget at a public works committee meeting Thursday.
