Tropical storm Jerry churning in Atlantic

TORONTO – Tropical Depression Eleven strengthened into a tropical storm Monday morning.

Now known as Tropical Storm Jerry, the storm formed late Monday morning in the middle of the Atlantic.

It is the eleventh storm of the season, but the tenth named storm.

Jerry is moving eastward near 11 km/h with maximum sustained winds of 65 km/h. The National Hurricane Center out of Miami, Fla. forecasts some strengthening.

At the moment, Jerry poses no threat to land.
