UPDATE: Orchard Park Mall given the green light

Update: As of 12:49 a.m. police confirm they are no longer closing off the mall and its parking lot. The investigation is ongoing and RCMP aren’t confirming what caused the closure.

Update:  Kelowna RCMP say the mall will remain closed for the remainder of the night. Police are requesting people to stay away from Orchard Park Mall and the surrounding immediate area.

KELOWNA —  The Okanagan’s largest shopping centre — Ochard Park Mall — has been evacuated.

Witnesses say everyone including staff and shoppers were ordered out of the mall at around 5:40pm.

RCMP not saying what prompted the evacuation but a canine unit has entered the building along with police.

The Kelowna fire department is also on scene assisting with the evacuation. We’ll have more information as it becomes available.
