VERNON — The 95-year-old man charged with the murder of his care home roommate must undergo further assessment before a decision is made on his fitness to stand trial.

John Furman, a decorated WWII veteran, was charged in connection with the death of 85-year-old William George May after an apparent assault at Vernon’s Polson Extended Care facility in August.
The facility is a home for patients with dementia.
Furman is due back in court November 27th.
