Hiker rescued off Mount Arrowsmith on Vancouver Island

A large rescue operation for an injured hiker came to an end early this morning on Vancouver Island.

Crews spent a second night on Mount Arrowsmith with an injured man who fell on Saturday.

He was on a hike on the mountain about 25 kilometres east of Port Alberni.

Weather conditions hampered repeated attempts to move the hiker off of the mountain.

Weather cleared this morning and a Cormorant helicopter was able to land and transport the injured man to hospital.
