TORONTO — During a concert in Vancouver on Sept. 21, Indigo Girls singer Emily Saliers revealed she had tied the knot with her longtime partner, Alberta native Tristin Chipman. The couple, who have a nine-month-old baby, were reportedly married in New York State this summer.
Saliers is one of many celebrities who has fallen in love with a Canadian.

The 43-year-old Chicago native married Calgary’s Kyla Weber in January 2010. They are parents of daughter Locklyn and son Vernon.

Ed Norton (The Italian Job, The Incredible Hulk) is very private, so it came as a bit of a surprise when it was revealed he had a baby with Shauna Robertson in March. The 44-year-old actor has reportedly been with Robertson — a film producer originally from Markham, Ont. — for about six years and, according some reports, are either engaged or already married.

Music icon Sir Elton John, 66, has been in a relationship with Toronto-born David Furnish since 1993. The two men are parents of sons Zachary and Elijah. Furnish, 50, is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario who was working for ad agency Ogilvy & Mather when he met the “Rocket Man” star.

After more than two decades together, KISS rocker Gene Simmons married Canadian model-actress Shannon Tweed in 2011. The 64-year-old musician met the 56-year-old native of St. John’s, Newfoundland following her relationships with Playboy publisher Hugh Hefner and CFL player Ron Foxx. Their lives together were shown on the reality series Gene Simmons Family Jewels.

American Idol winner Carrie Underwood was introduced to then-Ottawa Senators player Mike Fisher at her concert in Ottawa in 2008 and they started dating. Mexican actor Demián Bichir (The Bridge) is currently involved in a relationship with Canadian model Stefanie Sherk. German actress Diane Kruger (also on The Bridge) has been in a relationship with Canadian actor Joshua Jackson (Dawson’s Creek, Fringe) since 2006 — following a five-year marriage to French actor-director Guillaume Canet. Actor Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker) is so guarded with his personal life that it’s not clear if he’s actually in a relationship with Sonni Pacheco, a Vancouver model who grew up near Coquitlam, B.C. But we do know Pacheco gave birth in March to Renner’s first child, a girl they named Ava. The 42-year-old actor and Pacheco, who is 20 years younger, met on the B.C. set of Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol. After she became pregnant, Pacheco reportedly moved into the L.A. home Renner shares with longtime friend Griffin Hadley.
