BC NDP president stepping down

British Columbia NDP president Moe Sihota has announced he'll be stepping down from his position in November 2013. CP

BC NDP President Moe Sihota will step down from his position when his term ends in November.

“It has been an immense privilege to serve our party and supporters over these four years,” Sihota said in a statement. “I want to personally thank the members, as well as our caucus, for the faith they expressed in me.”

First elected to the role in 2009, Sihota’s term was renewed by party convention delegates in December 2011. During his tenure both his service and accomplishments both as a party executive and in electoral politics, has received praise from the two party leaders, Adrian Dix and Carole James, he served.

“Moe’s dedication, intelligence and good humour is remarkable,” Dix said. “As President, he helped the party modernize its fundraising capacity, and move forward in implementing a strong outreach plan involving the business community.”
