Nine years after 2004 murder of Amandeep Bath, the two men who were originally charged in the case have been charged yet again.
Parminder Singh Basran, 28, is charged with Second Degree Murder while Bhabjit Singh Aujla, 29, is charged with Manslaughter and accessory after the fact.
Bath died in Surrey on September 23, 2004, following a confrontation between him and two suspects in a vehicle.
Both men were charged in 2004 shortly after Bath was killed. However, charges against them were stayed in 2005.
“We often watch the news of other murder cases being solved quickly, we never gave up hope of when our time would come,” says Kamaljit Khela, Bath’s aunt.
That time came in 2012, when a team of Cold Case investigators reopened the case and with a fresh perspective and a “new set of eyes” the team discovered new evidence against the pair.
“We’re overwhelmed, overjoyed, that something has come out of something that has been dark for us for a long time, that we’ll actually see some light,” Khela says.
Basran and Aujla will make a court appearance on September 23.
IHIT will not be releasing any further details at this time as the case is now before the courts.
