CALGARY- There is still no confirmation about the identity of human remains that were discovered this week, but the family of a missing hiker has been notified about the find.
59-year-old Kevin Kennedy went hiking in Peter Lougheed Provincial Park in August 2011. He never returned.

On Monday, someone hiking in the same area came across the skull and notified authorities. RCMP have since secured the area near Lost Lemon Mine.
On Tuesday, a search turned up more remains, but work is now underway to determine if they belong to a human or an animal.
Investigators are now working to identify the skull and cross-reference it with missing persons reports, in an effort to bring closure to a family. It could still be days before that happens.
