Huge police presence in Langley after man shot dead in strip mall parking lot

A shocking scene in a busy area of Langley Friday afternoon, when a man was gunned down in the street. Rumina Daya reports. – Jan 7, 2022

There is a massive police presence at 88th Avenue and 202nd Street in Langley Friday afternoon.

When officers arrived at the strip mall, they found an adult man suffering from gunshot wounds, police said. The man died of his injuries.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has been called in to investigate and police said this does not appear to have been a random act.

Yellow tape is up at the strip mall and a body can be seen under a yellow tarp in the parking lot.

The area surrounding the scene will be cordoned off for a significant amount of time, police said.

A witness told Global News she heard gunshots around 2 p.m. before walking over to the mall and seeing the police, flashing lights and yellow crime scene tape.

She said she heard between eight and 10 shots.

There is also a smashed black SUV behind police tape.
