Pedestrian dead after hit-and-run in Toronto’s east end: police

A 78-year old man is dead after a hit-and-run in Toronto’s east end Thursday evening, police say.

Toronto police said emergency crews were called to the collision on Lawrence Avenue East near Brockley Drive at 7:42 p.m.

Police said the victim was crossing Lawrence Avenue East mid-block east of Brockley Drive was he was hit by a car.

He was taken to hospital in life-threatening condition and later pronounced dead.

The suspect vehicle was described as a dark-coloured sedan that has damage to the front bumper and headlight areas, police said.

Police said their investigation is ongoing.
