Canadian reported kidnapped in Kenya

A Canadian man has been reported kidnapped in Kenya, according to the head of security for an international school in Nairobi.

Early reports said the man was grabbed outside the school’s gates, but Robert Onyango said that was not correct.

"He was kidnapped close to his house, which is about half a kilometre from the school," Onyango said.

The school provides a western-based education for about 700 students, including Canadians, in the Kenyan capital.

The man’s name is not known, and early reports suggest he works for an aid organization.

Officials at the Canadian Embassy were unavailable for comment Friday morning.
