TORONTO — Canadian TV icon Alan Thicke said this week he didn’t know Miley Cyrus would be gyrating against his son, singer Robin Thicke, at last month’s MTV Video Music Awards.
“If I had seen the choreography or anybody had asked me in advance, I would simply have said ‘Don’t hump her twerk,'” the Growing Pains star told the Roz and Mocha Show on Toronto’s KiSS 92.5.

Thicke, who will be honoured Saturday at the Canada’s Walk of Fame gala, wasn’t completely unimpressed with the controversial performance.
“On the maxim that there’s no such thing as bad publicity,” he said, “it certainly scored.”
